“This is the part of the story where Leila and Lee go on the run to the highlands and nearly die.”
Yellow Moon: The Ballad of Leila and Lee is a modern-day Bonnie and Clyde tale that follows the fortunes of two teenagers on the run. Silent Leila is an introverted girl with a passion for celebrity magazines. Stag Lee Macalinden is the deadest of dead-end kids in a dead-end town. They never meant to get mixed up in a murder... but shit happens and now they need a place to hide.
Told through a combination of narration, verse, and naturalistic dialogue, David Grieg’s light touch script leaps from teenage romance to redemption myth; from wry comedy to classic tragedy. Featuring live, original music from student musicians, our production has a stripped back aesthetic, embracing the language in the script.
Funny, sad and a little bit different, this production from one of the UK’s leading contemporary playwrights is perfect for both teenage and adult audiences. From the winners of a ThreeWeeks Editors’ Award (2010).
